I graduated high school in 1984 at the peak of Michael’s popularity. This is my generation’s Elvis.
I remember, that year, sleeping in the parking lot of the Pontiac Silverdome (Pontiac, Mich) so I could get tickets to the Jackson’s Victory Tour.
He sang some of my favorite songs ever. Thank you, Michael, for sharing your talent with the world. You will be missed.

As a young child, I remember my mom taking me to see Michael Jackson while he was on the THRILLER tour. 5 rows from the stage watching americas number one artist preform all of the great hits. Michael Jackson will be a icon forever withing the music industry and in every american heart. Our prayer go out ot his family especially his mother who he was very close to.

We have lost a great entertainer. It’s a shame that now Michael is gone and now we are hearing all the nice things about him. Why couldn’t he have heard more of the nicer things about himself instead of all the trash talk and allegations. He was a celebrity…of course people are going to try and take advantage of him and tarnish his image to make a buck. I’m sure he just couldn’t take the stress. He may still be with his children today if people would not be so hurtful and jump to the wrong conclusions.

I remember singing and dancing to the Jackson Five with my girlfriends when I was young. “Ben” was one of the first songs I learned to play on the piano. The memories that I’ve had tonight are sweet. Michael was truly a great artist whose talent will not be easily forgotten.

I just can’t believe the King of Pop is dead. I have done nothing today but listen to your station and remembering. I am only 18 years old and I don’t have any memories like my parents do but as a child my father introduced Michael Jackson to me and it was just something me and all my friends would listen to. Just this past Saturday I was jamming is greatest hits cd in the car with my best friend while her brother wore one glove. He was just an icon and a pure genius. I will never forget him and I know that no one else will either. He was an inspiration to us all. I think even now we all would just forget the rumors and look past everything that has happen just to have him back. Who knows what this comeback could have done. God Bless his family, all his fans, and RIP Michael Jackson. You are loved.

I have heard that MJ has been struggling with health issues…some even brought on by himself. This is not the time to focus on anything except his life and music and what he did to change the landscape of the music industry worldwide. Also let’s remember his children. Pray for the family.
June 26th, 2009 at 6:27 am
This is like 1977 when Elvis Presley died. I remember that well and this is the same coverage. I am shocked that he died. He was so good in the 80’s danced to all his music. It is sad that he is gone at such a young age. He will be missed.
June 26th, 2009 at 6:31 am
I’ve never admitted this in my adult life, lol, but I remember in High School cruising around with two of my best friends and when ‘Thriller’ came on the radio, when he sang “..you hear the door slam..” we’d open the car doors and slam them with the door slam sound in the song.
June 26th, 2009 at 6:31 am
I remember when Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 were on the Ed Sullivan show for the first time. My sisters and I flipped out. The Jackson 5 and The Osmonds were the original boy bands back in the day. Play a Michael Jackson song anywhere at anytime and people go wild dancing. No more demons Michael, rest in peace.

Michael
You are not alone!
June 26th, 2009 at 7:50 am
I will greatly miss Michael. I have loved him my whole life. No matter what accusations have been made toward him, I have always LOVED his music! No one can compare to the music this Legend has made! Thank you Michael for giving me some of the greatest music I have ever heard!
June 26th, 2009 at 7:50 am
kentcardinal says,
Michael Jackson has been labelled king of pop and compared with Elvis Presley.
It may be true that he was “king of pop” but the world of popular music he was “king” of was not the world of Elvis Presley, or Frank Sinatra, or even Anne Murray, Connie Francis, the Platters, and Glenn Miller. It is as unfair to make those comparisons as it is to compare Queen Victoria with Elizabeth I or Henry VIII. Each existed in a different world.
So give Jackson his due, and ownership of the niche that is his world, but do not have him reign over the Sinatras and others listed earlier.

I to grew up when he was in his prime. I had heard he was sick but, brought on by himself. I think he had been sick and needed help long ago. But, also another great person in time died the same day and now she is just a footnote in history and that is Farrah Fawcett. She to was a great person and was very famous for a lot of things.
June 26th, 2009 at 8:18 am
I can’t believe it….God Rest His Soul!
My seven year old son and his seven year old cousins LOVE the MJ videotape with “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” on it! Michael Jackson will have fans FOREVER!!!!!!!
June 26th, 2009 at 8:22 am
Back in the 80’s, I can’t remember the exact year maybe 1986? I was working as a graphic artist locally at Solo Cup Company. One of my projects was designing the cup for the upcoming Jackson Reunion Tour for Pepsi. It was one of the biggest contracts Solo Cup had ever acquisitioned. The cup I designed began with all the hand-written signatures of each of the Jackson Five. Michael’s signature was the neatest of them all. I wish I would have kept those original signatures!

As a DJ, I’ve played his songs thousands of times over the years and they never failed to get people dancing and excited. The world has lost an unparalleled talent, entertainer, and humanitarian. I am truly saddened by his passing but now his music is even more special to me. Rest in peace Michael.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:30 am
I’M 54 AND I LOVE MJ. I NEVER BELEIVED ANY OF THE GARBAGE TALK ABOUT HIM. YES, HE WAS DIFFERENT, BUT HIS FATHER HAD A LOT TO BLAME THAT FOR. HE WAS THE GREATEST OF ENTERTAINERS AND HIS MUSIC AND DANCE WILL LIVE ON FOREVER. IT’S TO BAD HE DIDN’T FIND A SOULMATE TO HELP HIM THROUGH THE LONELY TIMES. HE WAS SO HANSOME WHEN HE MADE THE THRILLER ALBUMN, WHY DID HE CHANGE HIS LOOKS. POOT MICHAEL. I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO SEE HIS COMEBACK AND MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE COME TO NH AND I COULD HE HIS GREATNESS WITH MY OWN EYES. THE ANGELS ARE LUCKY TO HAVE SOME GOOD ENTERTAINMENT UP THEIR NOW. RIP MJ, PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:31 am
I hope and pray that Michael Jackson is remembered for his contributions to the music world and not for the terrible accusations bestowed upon him in the later years of his life. His legacy will never be forgotten. Forever in our hearts, we love you. May you rest in peace.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Micheal Jackson’s music is timeless and suitable for all generations. I was in 3rd grade when the Thriller album was released and I loooooved it. I listened to it obsessively. Last year when the 25th anniversary edition was released I ran right out to buy it. My son, who was 15, loved it also. And my neice, who was 6, loves the song Thriller. She calls it the Holloween song. I am an adult, my son is a teenager, and my niece is a child and we all relate to his music. He does something that not many artists can do…..he crosses generational gaps.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:48 am
No matter what his detractors say, Michael Jackson was a GREAT entertainer and a ground-breaking artist. His music will live forever. His talent will be greatly missed.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:57 am
I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a great singer/entertainer. Not since Elvis have I felt this saddened. He, and his music, will be greatly missed. Now he’s in a better place.
June 26th, 2009 at 9:59 am
What great memories I have of Michael Jackson - sitting in my parent’s basement listening to his albums for hours on end - watching his videos on MTV at my friend Tammy’s house - seeing the Jackson Reunion tour. Michael - there will never be another like you! My you find the rest you never had on earth in heaven with our Heavenly Father.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:09 am
I am enjoying remembering Michael’s music. He made the 80s a lot of fun.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:16 am
As I listen to MJ music today, I am realizing that I had forgotten how many huge songs he had. Each one reminds me of a time and place. He was a huge part of the soundtrack of our lives.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:22 am
The day which we fear as our last is but the Birthday of eternity. ..R.I.P. Your legacy lives forever..
June 26th, 2009 at 10:29 am
I remember songs like You Are Not Alone and Black Or White when I was a kid. But this is my first memory of him. My grandparents took me to Disney World in the late 80’s early 90’s and I remember one of the store clerks in a giftshop telling us we just missed Michael Jackson he had just been there. I remember thinking how cool it would have been to have seen him.
RIP Michael.

June 26th, 2009 at 11:06 am
I am greatly saddened by the sudden, unexpected death of Michael Jackson. He has been in my life since I was still a girl.(I’m 54) Michael had his problems, but I feel he was a musical genius, and sometimes with great genius other aspects of mind/life seem to suffer. His dancing was amazing and I never tired of watching him. I thank him for all the gifts of music and dance he gave to us with his extraordinary creativity. I don’t know the title, but I love strutting to the song “Way you Make Me Feel”. Thank you Michael, I will miss you.
June 26th, 2009 at 11:37 am

Michael Jackson was definately a true King he was the King of our Hearts, I have one of his vinyl albums back when he was young with his brothers,
God Bless
June 26th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Amazing…the music he sang and the way he performed at the early age of 6 showed he was way ahead of his time. I love the Motown sound with the Jackson 5 and from there he went solo. The choreography which was matched to his songs was and still is GREAT! Liz Taylor named him the “King of Pop” and the irony is that he also passed like the “King of Rock n Roll, Elvis” weeks before a new tour.
I will say a prayer for his soul and a prayer of comfort for his family as they mourn their loss.
June 26th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
Yesterday I was completely freaked by the news of Michael Jackson’s passing. Today I cried…I am devasted at the loss of such an amazing entertainer. I grew up in love with him like many people. My heart goes out to his children and family and all of the people that loved him such as myself. RIP Michael…
June 26th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I gradutated high school in 1983, and grew up on Micheal’s music. When I heard the news, I went down to my basement, and dusted off my Thriller album, and just holding it brought back so many wonderful memories for me. His music even today at 44 makes me smile, and want to dance. Although I did not always like what was happening in his life, I can not deny that I loved him and his music. I know he is with the angels now, and send my utmost sympathies to his family and friends.
June 26th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I have always loved his music and i was very supportive when he was having difficulties in his life. when my roommate was online he saw the headlines that he had died i was in shock. he will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family.
June 26th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
It’s really sad that you are gone @ 50. I really enjoyed your music. Almost everyone had a copy of “Thriller”
I hope you can RIP and finally are away from the awful reporters who followed you all the time for “the big story” I hope people start to realize that celebrities are people not Gods/God. Alot of people’s whole lives revolve around celebrities which is sad. RIP
June 26th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I have a deep love for the Jackson Family… I was in my truck when I heard he had been taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest… I went to the store & got home in like 15 minutes… by the time I got to the WEB… the News had just broke that The King of Pop was DEAD.
My heart bleeds for the Family. To grow up listening to him… brought me to tears last night when I listened to his music… I still have a heavy weight on my heart… you just feel numb.
RIP Michael
June 26th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
I remember my three girls dancing to Thriller. It didn’t hit me about his death until I heard Billie Jean this morning and I broke down. I remember the innocent Michael Jackson when I was young. He was a very caring talented person. We will miss you dearly Michael.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
I am heartbroken! Such a waste, and now we grieve because he is gone too soon.
Music will never be the same!
Here is a poem I wrote just for him.
Today I rose and faced the world with sadness in my heart,
It could just be because I know this pains me like a dart.
I heard the news that you were gone, and sorrow filled the air,
I did not know I’d miss the man who truly made me care
Of mirrored men, we are the world, and making healing come
Of caring souls, misguided foes, and now all this is done.
I know that heaven’s gates await the One we loved so well,
And Angels sing, Here comes the King of Pop of this they tell
His music’s here, his music’s there, his music is all around,
His music is a wonderful work, and a beautiful part of sound!
May God welcome you into his Kingdom as the Man in the Mirror…the original Michael Jackson!
June 26th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Michael was a great part of most of our childhoods and will always be remembered for the child he was, singing and dancing & the magnificent dancer and choreographer. Fame & fortune can never buy happiness, and he tried for the remainder of his life for the childhood he never had. The world is a harsh enough place, one should NEVER have your parents contributing to the fray! REMINDER: he was NEVER convicted of anything and, Lord knows, enough people were looking (Media) that if anything was there they should have found it! As Sandra Bullock stated in her movie - ‘childhood is what we spend the rest of our lives getting over’! I hope he has finally found the peace he sought. Rest well Michael - Thanks for the memories!
June 26th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
My heart goes out to the Jackson Family, I am truly in shock myself. I love Michael, his songs and his awesome dancing. I am very upset about all the crap that was said about him for so long, nobody knows and people should not judge. He will be missed, but his music will live on for years to come.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
The world lost a great artist! He was the “best of the best” His music, his dancing…no one tops him. He was a music genius. He will be missed greatly all over the world.
June 26th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
Michael Jackson was a legend in his own time. His talent and showmanship was the best….his personal life was, I believe, sad and lonely.
Watch the video, “Childhood” which Michael says he wrote about himself, listen to the words, and see what I mean. His passing is a terrible loss to the music world and perhaps even to the world at large, as he broke musical barriers of all kinds, and presented himself as the King of Pop to the world.
June 26th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
I was just telling my wife and children that growing up you could always hear one of his songs on the radio. You would also hear new hits on the airwaves. As strange as his personal life, he was an amazing entertainer. He will be missed, a good ending would be his song “She’s Out of My Life”. The curtain closes……Micheal has left the building…..God bless his children and family….
June 26th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
As a grad of the mid 80’s we use to rush home after school ( or skip class) and listen to Thriller EVERYDAY…..We dancedand danced. His music defined my generation…..and when we were in the car we would turn on the radio and wait for Michael’s songs to come on….. The legend will live on!
June 26th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
i grew up on michael jackson music. wish i had a good stereo to listen to my albums. even my teenage daughters are listening to his songs. weird! thoughts are with his family and everyone whose life he touched in any way throughout his 50 years
June 26th, 2009 at 6:44 pm

You are such a legend and have inspired music forever.
I was so saddened by your passing and cried many tears from my heart, but then i thought, you are in a much better place. No one can hurt you now and that makes me happier, may you sleep a peaceful sleep forever. Your music will live on forever. My prayers are with your family and children at this difficult time.

June 27th, 2009 at 5:46 am
As I listened to the news and heard of Michaels death, I at first was shocked. Then I started feeling much sadness. I got to see him in concert only once when he was with the Jackson 5.
I loved that concert! His Thriller video is one of the very best videos ever. He was a great entertainer, his music and dancing were awesome.
I think the media should respect his family and not dwell on the parts of his life that were so hard for him to deal with. My prayers go out to his family. I was watching a tribute to him and when they said “here is the last picture of Michael” I thought it would be of him with his children or something to that effect. Instead, it was of him lying on the gurney as they put him in the ambulance. For heaven’s sakes people, we know he was gone before they took him from his home. Why must the media be so sick that they show us a photo of him lying there dead?
No feelings at all for the family or friends and fans of this great entertainer who left so many of us with great memories.
June 27th, 2009 at 7:37 am
I am saddened by the untimely passing of Michael Jackson. He was a great performer and his music will continue for eternity. I send my prayers for his family.
June 27th, 2009 at 7:42 am

Years ago I ushered at Veteran’s Memorial Hall in
Columbus, Ohio. Michael Jackson was there with the Jackson Five. The young girls were all screaming and trying to get on stage. He was a
cute kid with an amazing voice and magnetic personality. He later went out on his own to become the icon he is today. His memory lives on!
June 27th, 2009 at 11:59 am
I remember watching the Jackson 5 on the Ed Sullivan show in black and white when i was just 5 years old…..I was born in 58 and i grew up watching Michael and his brothers….i was in total shock when i heard what happened…. he will be missed by so many….
June 27th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
What a tragic loss. Michael Jackson was genius! My greatest memory of Michael was waited with anticipation to see the debut of his Thriller video on MTV. I still have that old VHS tape that I recorded that day and watch it from time to time. He made MTV what it is today. Thank God his music will live on.
June 27th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
MJ may your spirit continue to live through your children, family and especially your fantastic music. Michael Jackson was an innovative music ICON. There will never be another Michael Jackson. I’ve only seen him live once. It was in the early 1970’s with the Jackson 5. I was in awe then as I still am today.
MJ,
May God and his angels embrace you as you have embraced so many people with your musical wisdom as you journey through heaven’s pearly gates. May you finally know and understand that even though you never felt the love of your father, that now you will feel the ultimate love of the greates father of all “God”.
Bless the entire Jackson clan, as I am sure they need all the support they can get during these sad days.
MJ and the “70’s & 80’s & 90’s” forever!!!!!
My heart is still acheing and the tears are still flowing.
Luv u Michael

I was a huge fan of Michael’s when I was growing up, he was a true genius, the way he moved and sang. For the past couple of years most people, including me didn’t really pay much attention to him, but now that he is gone, it hits you all at once of how much this man was had accomplished and was appreciated by millions. I cried and tried to remember my childhood dancing and singing along to Michael. RIP Michael, and we love you!!!
June 27th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
I think I’m STILL in shock and hard to believe. His music has been such a huge part of my life. I can’t believe I’ll never hear another new song from him or a new performance. No chance to see him again in concert. I have such great memories of watching him, cheering for his outstanding feat at the Grammy’s for Thriller, and seeing him on the Motown special. And seeing him at Madison Square Garden was the best!! My love and prayers to his family and loved ones. May he find the love and peace he could not find here.

im am very young, but i love his music. I wish i could have been as talented as he was, no one will ever be as good as he was.. we should only bring up the good things in his life, not the bad. prayers out to the family. RIP michael, i will miss you
June 28th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Out of all the “Joe and Katherine Jackson children” it seems that Michael’s star started burning the youngest. It burned the brightest and it burned the longest! Unfortunately it also extinguished the soonest.
Not since the death of Elvis, has the world given a such collective gasp of shock. The news of Michael’s passing was as unexpected as it was tragic. My prayers go out to his family and friends, and may he at last find peace.
June 28th, 2009 at 8:29 pm
i am truly saddened by michael jackson’s death. He was a great singer. My favorite song of all time that he sang was you are not alone. The first song i ever heard from him was thriller and that was when i was riding home on halloween from getting candy. Michael jackson you were the best and you will always be the king of pop. R.I.P. He is my all time favorite singer and performer. Not only as Michael Jackson but as the Jackson 5. I don’t think that anyone will ever be able to top him. It is just so sad how weak he became toward the end. His Legend will live on forever.

What a sad week we have all witnessed. First Ed McMahon, followed by Farrah Faucett, and Michael Jackson and then to hear today Billy Mays.
Michael Jackson was just three yrs. older then myself. I have grown up with him and listened to his music all of my life. I will never forget watching the Jackson 5 show. The first song that I really was drawn to was “A B C”. To this day all of his song were an inspiration to me and always will be.
We should all say a prayer for Michael and the others that lost their lives this past week and for their families as well
God Bless You Michael!!

I grew up listening to the Jackson 5 and then a solo Michael Jackson. I loved his music and his enthusiasm. We will never see another like him. He did so much for music and the world of music videos.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his children as well as the rest of the Jackson family. Rest in peace Michael. We will miss you.

MJ and I shared the same birthday - August 29. It was always cool to hear what celebrity shared your birthday and I will always remember him for that. It is sad he passed at such a young age and will be missed.

In 1993 I won two tickets to the Super Bowl and Michael Jackson was the half time entertainment. I was on the football field when he performed. I’ll never forget that performance.

I’ve been struggling to convey the complex emotions I feel about Michael’s passing, but regardless of how I and many others may feel about Michael the man, I can’t deny his impact on pop culture and on the world of music. Let’s not forget that he was one of the first (if not THE) first African Americans on MTV. Thank you so much for the memories, Michael. I hope you’re finally at peace. You will be missed.

I first saw the Jackson Five at the Ohio State Fair in August of 1971. I was eleven and I loved Michael from that day on. I have always loved all of his music and no one else could dance like him. He will be missed.

My heartfelt prayers go out to the entire Michael Jackson family & fans!! My oldest son had the privilege to see Michael Jackson Live at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Columbus, OH in the 80’s. My daughter loved to sing & dance to all his records & my youngest son wore a Red jacket with 1 white glove (his sisters’ glove) honoring & wanting to be just like Michael at age 3. Michael Jackson without a doubt was the KING of POP & Always Will Be. His video’s are magical & will be enjoyed for many many years to come which will always be a Reminder to us all what a GREAT entertainer Michael Jackson is!!!!
